Breaking Barriers

Addressing taboo topics and promoting open, informed conversations is crucial for building healthier communities. Rotaract Aley took an important step in this direction through a collaboration with Marsa to raise awareness about Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and provide free, confidential testing for our members.

This initiative was designed to tackle a pressing community health challenge—the stigma, lack of awareness, and limited access to sexual health services in our area. By educating members on STI prevention, symptoms, and treatment, the project empowered them with knowledge and tools to safeguard their health.

With professional facilitators from Marsa leading interactive sessions, our members gained clear, accurate information in a supportive environment. Following the session, members had access to free STI testing, eliminating financial and social barriers that often prevent people from seeking care.

While the project currently serves the Rotaract Aley members directly, there is a strong vision to expand this initiative to the broader community, making it a sustainable and impactful effort toward disease prevention.

A special thanks goes to Bahaa Hilal, our dedicated Professional Development Director, whose coordination with Marsa and leadership made this project possible. His commitment to fostering health education reflects our club’s ongoing mission to support well-being through knowledge and action.

By confronting difficult topics with honesty and care, we move closer to a community where everyone can thrive—healthy, informed, and stigma-free.
