The Breath of Life project stands as one of the most transformative community service achievements of the year. Led by Project Leader Yasmina Azzam, and carried out in collaboration with Rotary Club Aley, Rotaract Club of Aley, and Interact Club of Aley, this initiative brought a long awaited and life saving Oxygen Generator to Al Iman Hospital, fundamentally improving its ability to respond to medical emergencies and provide continuous, reliable patient care.
After years of planning and persistent advocacy, the installation and activation of the generator marked a defining milestone for both the hospital and the community it serves. Access to medical oxygen is a critical element of effective healthcare, especially in life threatening cases, and the hospital’s previous dependency on external suppliers created delays, limitations, and significant operational costs. Today, with a sustainable in house oxygen source, Al Iman Hospital is empowered with greater independence, readiness, and resilience.
This project’s success is deeply rooted in collective dedication. It was driven forward by the unwavering commitment of Past President Olfat Hamza, whose efforts ensured the project’s continuity despite logistical and financial obstacles. It was made possible through the generosity and belief of key supporters, including Beit Nasa represented by Fellow Kamal Shouhayib, Past President Helene Richmani Maasri, Parliament Member Mark Daou, and Ms. Ola Jaber. Their contributions reflect a shared mission to strengthen healthcare systems and uplift the community during times of greatest need.
Rotaract Aley and Interact Aley played a meaningful multigenerational role in this initiative, proving that impactful service thrives when youth, professionals, and community leaders unite behind a common purpose. Their involvement ensured that this project was not only a technical accomplishment but also a testament to the values of civic engagement, compassion, and teamwork.
With the Oxygen Generator now fully operational, Al Iman Hospital benefits from uninterrupted oxygen availability, reduced treatment delays, lower operational expenses, and increased emergency preparedness. Breath of Life reinforces the core mission of Rotary and Rotaract, showing how collaboration can create long lasting, life affirming change. This achievement will continue to support patients, empower medical teams, and strengthen public health for years to come, one breath at a time.
