Community Service Director Karine Ichtay and the Rotaract Club of Aley, in collaboration with the Interact Club of Aley, once again demonstrated their dedication to supporting displaced families through the Disaster Relief project. This initiative focused on addressing the immediate food insecurity faced by displaced families, especially children, residing in Aley El Gharbiye School.A total of 160 individuals were directly supported through this effort.
A Collaborative Effort for a Critical Cause
In a joint effort, Rotaract Aley and Interact Aley worked closely together to meet the pressing need for food among families struggling with displacement. Local restaurants in Aley, including Malak Al Taouk, ShawarmaAl Safa, and Djej Aal Fahem, generously provided sandwiches to ensure the children and their families received nourishing meals during a difficult time.
This project was particularly important because displaced families often face hunger, especially in schools or temporary shelters, where access to proper meals is limited. By distributing 160 sandwiches, the initiative helped provide immediate relief, ensuring that families had one less thing to worry about in their daily lives.
Tackling Hunger with Compassion
The project aimed to meet the basic nutritional needs of displaced children and families, helping to address hunger and supporting their overall well-being. The initiative also demonstrated a strong sense of Peace building and Conflict Resolution, as it specifically targeted displaced individuals affected by war, offering them not just food, but a sense of care and solidarity.Additionally, it aligned with Economic and Community Development by working to improve the conditions of vulnerable families through food support.
Project Planning and Implementation
To make the project a reality, the Rotaract and Interact Clubs coordinated closely with Aley El Gharbiye School to assess the specific needs of the displaced families. They developed a clear plan for the distribution of the sandwiches and reached out to local businesses for their generous support.
The planning steps were as follows:
Making a Difference in the Community
On the day of the distribution, the Rotaract and Interact Clubs worked together to ensure that each displaced family at Aley El Gharbiye School received their sandwich. The distribution was not just about providing food; it was about showing the displaced families that they were not forgotten, and that the community was there to support them through their struggles.
This initiative was a perfect example of local collaboration, where businesses, clubs, and volunteers joined forces to make a tangible difference in the lives of people in need. By focusing on a basic yet crucial need—food—the project helped displaced families focus on rebuilding their lives without the constant worry of hunger.
A Lasting Impact
The Disaster Relief project not only provided immediate relief to 160 displaced individuals but also fostered a spirit of compassion, care, and solidarity within the community. By addressing the fundamental need for food, Rotaract Aley and Interact Aley contributed to a sense of stability and security for families in distress. The success of this initiative was a testament to the power of collaboration and local support, showing how small actions can make a big impact.
