In the aftermath of displacement, the pain children carry often goes unseen. To address this invisible crisis, the Rotaract Club of Aley, in collaboration with Dorcas Tabitha, launched a meaningful initiative focused on psychological first aid, protection, and emotional support for vulnerable youth.
This project directly supported 80 displaced children, offering a safe and nurturing environment where they could express themselves, play, and begin healing. It wasn’t just a visit or a donation—it was a comprehensive program built on five days of intensive training that empowered both Rotaract members and students from Maroun Abboud Secondary Public School with tools to care for children's emotional well-being.
Led by Community Service Director Karine Ichtay, the initiative included recreational activities tailored to support the children's mental and emotional health, while fostering trust and safety. Through games, storytelling, art, and interactive sessions, our two participating members applied the training they received to make a meaningful difference—one child at a time.
This project addressed multiple Rotary Areas of Focus:
More than a one-time event, this initiative planted the seeds of sustainable community support. By training youth to understand trauma, respond compassionately, and lead activities with care, the project created a ripple effect—one that strengthens the long-term resilience of our community.
This disaster relief effort is a true embodiment of our club’s vision of Extending Legacies. It reflects how even small teams—with training, compassion, and partnerships—can respond to real needs and build a more supportive, caring world for those who need it most.
