Routes to Roots

Reconnecting with nature is not just about planting trees—it’s about planting purpose. Through our long-standing initiative Plant Your Map, Rotaract Aley and partner clubs continued their environmental journey with a new chapter: Routes to Roots in Ramlieh.

This phase of the project directly supported one local farmer while benefiting the surrounding community through improved air quality, enhanced biodiversity, and the collective act of reforestation. With 30 members attending and 4 leading the implementation, this collaboration demonstrated the true strength of unity in service.

Lebanon’s forests have been shrinking at an alarming rate due to deforestation, wildfires, and the lack of structured reforestation efforts. This project tackled that reality head-on, reinforcing the need for sustainable green spaces that support public health and environmental stability.

Routes to Roots is part of the larger Plant Your Map initiative—an ambitious campaign launched two years ago to plant 10,452 trees across Lebanon, one for every square kilometer of our country. This specific effort was made possible through funds raised by a previous joint Personal Development and Finance project: Med Talk.

Working in collaboration with Lebanon Eco, De Beyrouth USJ, and Tyre, we identified the ideal location and a dedicated farmer to host this phase of the project. Together, we planted not just trees, but hope for a more sustainable Lebanon.

This initiative continues to live up to our vision of Extending Legacies—it is more than a tree-planting campaign; it’s a long-term commitment to healing the land, one root at a time.

To everyone who dug a hole, planted a seedling, or helped shape this mission: thank you for nurturing both nature and legacy.
