SeaCycle, led by Project Leader Yasmina Azzam, is an environmental project designed to promote sustainability, community engagement, and responsible recycling through an innovative hands-on experience. Developed under the “Med Nature” initiatives, specifically “Waves of Change,” the project unfolded in two impactful phases: cleanup and upcycling.
The project began with a collaborative beach cleanup carried out by Rotaract members and professional divers. Supported by the SWIM Initiative NGO, participants received a brief introduction explaining the importance of protecting coastal ecosystems and the severity of marine pollution.
Divers focused on removing underwater waste, while Rotaractors cleaned the shoreline and carefully sorted materials for recycling and reuse. This collective effort not only improved the marine environment but also raised awareness about the urgent need for sustainable practices and shared environmental responsibility.

After the cleanup, the collected materials were transformed into meaningful art and functional creations.
Each piece was painted using the program’s theme colors, symbolizing harmony between human creativity and the natural world. This phase highlighted the potential for waste to become a resource when approached with innovation and environmental awareness.

Beyond its immediate environmental benefits, SeaCycle aimed to inspire long-term behavioral change. By combining teamwork, creativity, and sustainability, the project transformed pollution into purpose and encouraged the community to envision a cleaner and more responsible future.
