The project’s primary aim is to tackle the urgent need for warmth and protection among displaced families. The goal was to improve living conditions by providing critical winter gear, including coats, scarves, shoes, blankets, and other essentials. The project also addresses broader Rotary Areas of Focus, particularly Peace building and Conflict Resolution as it targets displaced families affected by war, as well as Economic and Community Development by enhancing the physical well-being of vulnerable individuals who lack access to basic necessities.
The Wrapped in Warmth project stands as a testament to the Rotaract Club of Aley’s commitment to supporting communities in times of crisis. It was initially launched two years ago and has since become an annual initiative, reflecting the club’s ongoing dedication to providing meaningful support during the cold season. This continuity speaks to the enduring nature of this signature project, one that ensures warmth, comfort, and hope for those who need it the most.
Planning for the project was meticulous and involved collaboration with key community organizations and shelters to identify specific clothing needs. After gathering this information, the team reached out to Fabric Aid and the AIM Center, securing donations that allowed the project to thrive. The donated clothing was sorted by age, gender, and need, ensuring that each individual received appropriate items tailored to their circumstances.
On October19th, the project team distributed 260 clothing items to displaced individuals at Ain Dara Official School and the Zaarour Center in Bhamdoun. The distribution continued on October 26th, reaching 268individuals across Aitet, Rubuuna, and Fidele schools. The wide-reaching impact of this project is evident, not just in the numbers, but in the heartfelt gratitude of the recipients who now have a bit more warmth and comfort to face the challenging winter months ahead.
